ONCF prepares a vast AI-powered video surveillance system

The National Railway Office has just launched tender 26E008 to design its “National Master Plan for Video Surveillance, Artificial Intelligence and National Hypervision.” The notice was published on September 8 on the Moroccan public procurement portal.

ONCF is specifically seeking project management assistance to prepare this roadmap. The contract is estimated at 1.08 million dirhams including tax, with a provisional deposit of 16,200 dirhams. Interested companies have until October 7 at 9 a.m. to submit their bids.

Surveillance designed on a national scale

The use of “hypervision” reflects the desire to move beyond equipment operating separately. This principle consists of bringing together images, alerts and the various supervision tools on a single platform in order to provide an overall view of the facilities concerned.

Artificial intelligence is to constitute the other pillar of the project. However, the public notice specifies neither the functions that will be assigned to it nor the technologies that will be selected. In particular, it does not allow one to affirm that ONCF plans to use facial recognition or automated behavior analysis.
