Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi Named to CAF Team of the Tournament for 2021 Africa Cup of Nations

Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi is in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) team of the tournament for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. Sofiane Boufal is on the bench in this ranking.
Achraf Hakimi, the Atlas Lions’ full-back, owes this place in the CAF team of the tournament to his performances during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which took place from January 9 to February 6 in Cameroon. In this ranking, we also find players like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané or Vincent Aboubacar. The PSG defender is not the only Moroccan highlighted by CAF. There is also the striker Sofiane Boufal, but as a substitute.
It should be recalled that Morocco was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Egypt after a flawless group stage and a high-level round of 16 match against Malawi. A "good participation despite the elimination", had declared Vahid Halilhodzic, the coach of the Atlas Lions, who took the opportunity to underline his pride in the exploits of the Moroccan players during this competition.
