Morocco Hit by Covid-19 Outbreak Ahead of AFCON Quarter-Final Against Egypt

Moroccan goalkeeper Munir Mohamedi and left-back Souffian El Karouani tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday in Yaoundé. This news comes 48 hours before the quarter-final of the Africa Cup of Nations that will pit Morocco against Egypt.
In addition to Fayçal Fajr (already recovered), two other Atlas Lions have tested positive for the coronavirus. Coach Vahid will have to do without goalkeeper Munir Mohamedi and left-back Souffian El Karouani. They have already been placed in isolation following the health protocol put in place by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Moroccan players will face Egypt this Sunday, January 30 at 4 pm, at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé, in a quarter-final match of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The Atlas Lions hope to secure their ticket for the semi-finals. Achraf Hakimi and his teammates reached the quarter-finals after beating Malawi (2-1), thanks to Youssef En-Nesyri and Achraf Hakimi.
