Morocco Coach Halilhodzic Skips Press Conference After Shock AFCON Quarterfinal Exit

The coach of the Moroccan national football team, Vahid Halilhodzic, did not attend the press conference on Sunday, January 30, after the elimination of the Atlas Lions in the quarter-finals of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. The reasons for this attitude remain unknown.
Vahid Halilhodzic preferred not to answer journalists’ questions after Morocco’s defeat against Egypt last Sunday. The coach of the Atlas Lions, according to some sports specialists, had planned everything, except for Morocco’s elimination in the quarter-finals. Moreover, the Moroccan selection was among the favorites given its flawless performance in the qualifiers for both the CAN and the World Cup.
Before the start of the CAN, Vahid Halilhodzic had declared that Morocco had every chance of winning this edition. But unfortunately the Pharaohs of Egypt blocked this wish, sending the Atlas Lions back with a score of (2-1).
It is perhaps out of disappointment that the coach chose to boycott the press conference. After several minutes of waiting, the journalists only had the impressions of Mohamed Salah, captain of the Pharaohs. For the moment, nothing has filtered out about the reasons for the absence of the coach of the Atlas Lions.
It should be recalled that Morocco had qualified for the quarter-finals, after beating Malawi (2-1). For the group matches, the Atlas Lions had an almost flawless run, winning against Ghana (1-0), the Comoros (2-0), and drawing (2-2) against Gabon.
