Tangier Doctor Arrested for Allegedly Ramming Police Officer at Checkpoint

The judicial police of Tangier referred a doctor to the Attorney General of the King at the Court of Appeal. He is being prosecuted for deliberately hitting a traffic officer at a checkpoint.
The director of a medical analysis laboratory in Tangier was placed in pre-trial detention in the local prison. He is accused of hitting a policeman with his vehicle and doing so deliberately on Mohammed VI Boulevard before fleeing, reports the daily Assabah.
Last Monday, the policeman who was directing traffic at the "Marina Bay" roundabout near the corniche had stopped the car driven by the doctor and asked him to present the exceptional travel authorization. Instead of complying, the accused preferred to start off at full speed, hitting the policeman who was trying to stop him. He was taken to the Mohammed V regional hospital while an arrest warrant was issued against the driver of the car.
He was identified and arrested after three days. When questioned by investigators, the man tried to deny the facts, but the surveillance camera images placed at the roundabout will prove him wrong. He is accused of attempted manslaughter against a police officer at a checkpoint and hit-and-run.
