Spanish Police Bust Major Hashish Smuggling Ring, Seize Over 3 Tons in Malaga

The Civil Guard dismantled on Saturday a major Moroccan hashish trafficking network on the east coast of Malaga. In total, 26 people were arrested and 3,362 kilos of hashish seized during the operation.

The Malaga Command’s Exterior Surveillance Integrated System (SIVE) launched the operation after locating a suspicious boat on the beach, not far from the El Palo neighborhood. A land and maritime device was set up and made it possible to intercept the boat with 715 kilos of Moroccan hashish and a van that was supposed to be used to transport them.

The network, very active on the coast from Malaga to Torre del Mar, in addition to introducing hashish into the peninsula, is also specialized in arms and high-end stolen vehicle trafficking, informs Malaga Hoy. It also has ramifications in the Campo de Gibraltar, Marbella and Almeria where 60 bales of hashish were seized and eight people arrested in possession of hunting, war and small caliber weapons.

After judicial authorization, agents from the Malaga, Almeria and Algeciras commands carried out 17 searches in La Línea, El Ejido, Roquetas de Mar, Rincon de la Victoria and Malaga. In total, 3,362 kilos of hashish, three boats, 1,600 liters of fuel, sixteen vehicles including two high-end ones, hunting, war and small caliber weapons as well as ammunition were seized.
