Spanish Police Bust Major Drug Ring: 15 Tons of Moroccan Hashish Seized

The Civil Guard has dismantled two large Moroccan hashish trafficking networks based in Almeria and Malaga, with ramifications in Murcia. In total, 35 people were arrested and more than 15 tons of hashish and other items were seized.
The two criminal organizations "had highly specialized personnel and means and transported large quantities of hashish by boat to Murcia," the Armed Institute said in a note, specifying that the two networks were laundering the drug trafficking money by investing in the leisure and agriculture sectors.

The searches carried out in Cartagena (Murcia), Almería, and the municipalities of Malaga, allowed the seizure of more than 15 tons of Moroccan hashish, two boats, 14 vehicles, five weapons and ammunition, more than 100,000 euros in cash and abundant documentation, according to La Voz de Cádiz.
The Civil Guard opened an investigation in 2020, after intercepting boats loaded with hashish in the bay of Portman (Murcia). In total, 91 bales of hashish had been seized and nine people arrested in a mountainous area, near the bay. The investigators set up a system of surveillance and identification of each of the members of the two networks based in Almeria, Malaga and Murcia. This led to the arrest of 35 people.
