Spanish Police Bust Major Moroccan Hashish Rings, Seize 10 Tons of Drugs

The Civil Guard of Tarragona has proceeded to dismantle two networks of Moroccan hashish trafficking to Europe. In total, 10 tons of drugs were seized, and 10 traffickers as well as 51 other people were arrested.
The two criminal organizations were dismantled after the armed institute opened two investigations last summer. The first was active in the Ebro delta, and facilitated the movement of traffickers who were transporting cannabis derivatives from Morocco, reports ABC. They offered their services to traffickers throughout Spain, from Galicia to Extremadura, passing through Andalusia and Catalonia. In total, 19 members of this network were arrested in Algeciras and Tarragone where their leader was based.

In the second operation, the Civil Guard arrested the biggest hashish trafficker in Catalonia, an Albanian man, based in the Barcelona town of Viladecans. His network was responsible not only for introducing hashish into Spain, but also for transporting it to other European countries to sell it on the market.
During the investigation, four hashish landings were thwarted, two in Tarragona, one in Alicante and one in Ibiza. On Tuesday, an anti-drug operation led to the arrest of 30 people in Alicante, Tarragona, Barcelona, Murcia and the Balearic Islands, five drug traffickers and the seizure of more than 5,700 kg of hashish.
