Sofyan Amrabat Emerges as Key Player in Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe Lineup
The Moroccan defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is thriving with Fenerbahçe to the point of being an indispensable element in the eleven of Portuguese coach José Mourinho.
Slowly but surely, Sofyan Amrabat is delivering fine performances and making an impression. According to the Turkish press, he "is a key element of the Istanbul team, very important in the mind of José Mourinho who has full confidence in him and has made him an undisputed starter." The Moroccan defensive midfielder has provided an assist in 9 matches this season, including 3 in the Super Lig.
After 7 rounds played, Fenerbahçe is in second place in the Turkish league standings with 16 points (5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss). It is ahead of Galatasaray, led by his compatriot Hakim Ziyech, who has 19 points.
After a difficult season under the colors of Manchester United, Sofyan joined Fenerbahce on a one-year loan with a mandatory purchase option at the end of the summer transfer window. The purchase option is set at 13 million euros, plus 2 million euros in bonuses.
