Amrabat Joins Fenerbahçe on Loan, Cites Mourinho as Key Factor

Transferred from Manchester United to Fenerbahce on a one-year loan with an option to buy at the end of the summer transfer window, Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat revealed, during his press conference, that he decided to join the Turkish club because of coach José Mourinho.
"He’s the ’Special One’... If Mourinho wants you, it’s very difficult to say no. Mourinho is a winner, I’m a winning player. I think we’ll do good things together. We’ll fight until the last second to win the championship," Amrabat said during his press conference, expressing his joy "to join a prestigious club like Fenerbahçe".
The Atlas Lion did not fail to "thank everyone, the board of directors, the president and the sporting director" of the Turkish club, aware that "it is a great responsibility to represent a team like this". Amrabat also confided that "the negotiations with the club started about two months ago. From the first day, I felt a good impression and a family feeling, which is difficult to develop in the world of football. I am therefore extremely grateful".
In addition to Mourinho, whom he considers a "special person" and who "told him after the match between Rome and Fiorentina that he wanted to work with [him]", the sporting director of Fenerbahçe, Akin Alikaya, also "fought to recruit me," added the Moroccan midfielder who "hopes to live up to the trust the club has placed in me and succeed with the team".
"We met Sofyan months ago. Sofyan believed in us and we in him. After this period, he did not compromise on his word, even though he received very serious offers... He was the name Mourinho wanted for the number 6 position," Alikaya confirmed. Loaned by Fiorentina to Manchester United last season, the 28-year-old player will reunite with his compatriot Youssef En-Nesyri, who joined Fenerbahce at the end of July from Sevilla FC.
