Record Turnout for 2021 Rally of Morocco as Dakar Stars Return

After the missed 2020 edition due to the health crisis, the Rally of Morocco is back in full force this year with a large number of participants.

More than a hundred cars and even more motorcycles and quads will take part in the 2021 edition of the Rally of Morocco. In the car category, the T1 class brings together big names from the Dakar such as Nasser Al-Attiyah, Lucio Álvarez, Yazeed Al-Rajhi, Ronan Chabot and Paulo Rui Ferreira. They will be at the wheel of a Toyota Overdrive. Isidre Esteve or Lionel Baud will be driving a Peugeot 3008 DKR, informs Motor.

In the T3 vehicle class, Cristina Gutiérrez, Seth Quintero, Fernando Álvarez, José Luis Peña, Santiago Navarro, Gael Queralt or the Russian Pavel Lebedev will also be in competition with 2022 T3 spec vehicles. The Spaniards Jordi Segura and Ricardo Ramilio, and Austin Jones, Kees Koolen, Eugenio Amos, Aron Domzala, Rokas Baciuska will be part of the T4 class. In the off-category, Erik Van Loon will compete with a Toyota GR DKR Hilux T1+. However, the T1+ from Prodrive or MINI and the RS Q e-tron from the German firm Audi will not be at this Rally of Morocco.

Six "desert elephants" will also participate in the Rally of Morocco. Martin Macik will drive his Iveco Big Shock Racing, while Gert Huzink will be at the wheel of the Riwald Dakar Team hybrid truck. On the motorcycle side, KTM will be present with its "starter" range and the riders Sam Sunderland, Toby Price, Kevin Benavides and Matthias Walkner. Honda will also be in the competition with the riders Ricky Brabec, Nacho Cornejo, Pablo Quintanilla and Joan Barreda, not to mention the Yamaha team with Ross Branch, Andrew Short and Adrien Van Beveren. The Rally of Morocco will also see the participation of eleven quads driven by pilots such as Rafal Sönik, Manuel Andujar, Alexandre Giroud or Tomas Kubiena.
