Audi Unveils Redesigned RS Q e-tron E2 for Morocco Rally Debut

The Audi RS Q e-tron E2 is the most aerodynamic and efficient lightweight version of the RS Q e-tron that will make its debut at the next Morocco Rally. The first-generation model won its first rally in the Abu Dhabi desert.
The RS Q e-tron E2 is distinguished by its completely new bodywork and greatly improved aerodynamics. All the body parts, especially at the rear of the vehicle, have been removed, reports Auto Journal. "The Audi RS Q e-tron E2 does not take up any body elements from its predecessor," says Axel Löffler, chief designer of the Audi RS Q e-tron. The cockpit is now significantly wider. Compliance with the prescribed interior dimensions requires it. Previously, the cockpit was narrowly constricted towards the roof. As for the front and rear hoods, they have also been redesigned. "We are now eliminating the passage under the rear hood on the left and right of the B-pillars," explains the manager.
Audi’s engineers have also worked to lower the vehicle’s center of gravity. The T1U prototypes will have to weigh 2,100 kg instead of 2,000 kg. The RS Q e-tron E2 also differs from the first-generation model by the reprogramming of the air conditioning compressor, which now operates intermittently. This saves energy and facilitates racing in the desert.
