Bayern's Mazraoui Finds Rhythm After Slow Start, Impresses in Recent Matches

Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui says he is satisfied with his first steps with his new team Bayern.

After a difficult start, Noussair Mazraoui is starting to find his bearings at Bayern Munich. His first and second starts are a good illustration of this. The Moroccan international provided an assist that allowed Bayern Munich to finish the match against Stuttgart in a draw (2-2). On Tuesday in the Champions League, French international Benjamn Pavard, injured after 20 minutes of play, was replaced by the Atlas Lion. The latter seized this opportunity to show that he is capable of the best.

After the match against Barcelona, he shared his impressions. He said he was satisfied with his debut with Bayern. "I think it was a good game for me. I came in as a replacement for Pavard and I didn’t have time to warm up before. I had to be there right away, which is difficult. But I had a very good start to the game, the tackle on Robert Lewandowski’s shot helped me get into the game. [...] I felt good. The whole group behaved very well, we fought as a team to beat Barça. It was a good team effort," said Noussair Mazraoui in an interview with AZ. "Overall, we put in an excellent performance against strong opponents. I think it was a very good start for me at Bayern. I want to continue like this," added the 24-year-old player.

Summoned by Walid Regragui, the new coach of the Atlas Lions, Noussair Mazraoui will leave Germany to join the Moroccan team with whom he will play his first international match since November 2020. "It’s a wonderful feeling. I’ve already been called up for the last few games, but I couldn’t play because of an injury. Now I’m fit and I hope to play. It’s a wonderful feeling to defend the colors of my country, to please the supporters, my compatriots. It’s fantastic, it fills me with pride as a player for my country," rejoiced the Moroccan right-back.
