PSG Star Achraf Hakimi Nominated for African Player of the Year Award

Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi is one of the 10 players nominated for the African Player of the Year award, according to the list published by the Confederation of African Football.
If he is elected on July 21, African Player of the Year, it will be a new accolade added to the list of the Moroccan defender of PSG, named "Best Moroccan Player Abroad" this season by the Moroccan Union of Professional Footballers.
An essential element of the Parisian club since his transfer last summer, the 23-year-old player, trained at Real Madrid who has succeeded in his debut in Ligue 1, is also the author of 4 goals and 6 assists in 32 league matches this season.
If he is designated, Achraf Hakimi will replace Mohamed Salah, to whom the trophy was awarded last year, and who is also on the list published by CAF. In addition to Hakimi and Salah, the list also includes Olympique Lyonnais striker Karl-Toko Ekambi, Riyad Mahrez, or Senegalese goalkeeper Édouard Mendy and Sadio Mané.
According to experts, the Moroccan player has a good chance this year, since the individual award of "African Player of the Year" will take into account the players’ performances over the season from September 2021 to June 2022. A period during which the Moroccan has been sensational with Paris as with the national team. The CAF Awards 2022 ceremony will take place on July 21 in Rabat, Morocco.
