The Moroccan defender of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is nominated for the 2023 African Ballon d’Or. The trophy that crowns the Best African Player will be awarded to the winner at a gala evening organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and scheduled for December 11 in Rabat.
Hakimi is in the running for the prestigious trophy thanks to his performances at the start of the season. Under the orders of Luis Enrique, the Atlas Lion has regained his great form, totaling 4 goals and 4 assists in 14 games in all competitions. His performance at the World Cup in Qatar, where Morocco reached the semi-finals, will certainly weigh in the balance.
Like him, other Moroccan players such as Sofyan Amrabat (Manchester United), Yassine Bounou (Al Hilal) and Youssef En-Nesyri (FC Sevilla) are in the running for the title of African Player of the Year. The other nominees are Riyad Mahrez, Victor Osimhen, Franck Zambo Anguissa, Vincent Aboubakar, Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah.
