Moroccan Star Achraf Hakimi Named to FIFA’s Team of the Year

Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi continues his rise in the sports world. Nominated in the category of "best player" for the FIFA The Best Trophies, he will be ranked in the team of the year unveiled by the international football body.
On Monday evening, the 26th edition of the FIFA The Best Trophies took place in Paris, rewarding the men and women who shone during the year in the world of football. Even though Achraf Hakimi was unable to win the "best player" award, he is still part of the very select team of the year alongside other great players such as Thibault Courtois-Achraf Hakimi, Joao Cancelo, Virgil van Dijk-Kevin de Bruyne, Luka Modric, Casemiro-Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Karim Benzema and Erling Haaland.
The only African player in the group, the right-back of the Atlas Lions and Paris Saint-Germain, has managed to stand out. Achraf Hakimi is thus rewarded for his performance, but above all for having contributed to leading Morocco to fourth place during the World Cup that took place in November and December 2022 in Qatar.
Also nominated in the "best coach" and "best goalkeeper" categories, Walid Regragui and Yassine Bounou did not win. The coach was not among the three finalists. The award for best player was awarded to Lionel Messi.
