PSG Backs Achraf Hakimi Amid Rape Allegations, Lawyer Claims False Accusation

The rape investigation targeting Achraf Hakimi is based on a "false accusation," says his lawyer. The Moroccan defender of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), who denies the facts, has the full support of his club. He is expected at training on Wednesday.
PSG is shaken by this rape case involving Achraf Hakimi. On Monday, the French newspaper Le Parisien announced that a 24-year-old woman had gone to the Nogent-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne) police station and declared that she had been raped by the Moroccan defender at his home on February 25. The alleged victim did not file a complaint, but the Nanterre prosecutor’s office took over the case.
Since the outbreak of the case, meetings have been piling up in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine) at the PSG headquarters. The club supports its player who denies the facts. In the player’s entourage, serenity reigns in the face of this accusation, we are assured. As if nothing had happened, Hakimi was present on Monday at the FIFA "The Best" Trophy ceremony, honoring the best footballers of the year 2022. Accompanied by his brother Nabil, Achraf posed for photographers, like all the nominees and guests of honor of the evening.
The player did not let anything show during this evening where he was rewarded with the title of best right-back in the team of the year, alongside his PSG teammates Kylian Mbappé and Leo Messi. The opening of a rape investigation targeting a player of the stature of Achraf Hakimi, a starter at PSG and a semi-finalist of the World Cup in Qatar with Morocco, has surprised many fans around the world.
