The Mummy Returns to Morocco
Twenty-five years after their last adventure together in "The Mummy Returns," Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are reprising their iconic roles for the fourth installment of the franchise. Filming will take place partially in Morocco at the end of the year.
The famous fantasy saga is awakening from its slumber. The fourth installment of "The Mummy" officially enters production. Principal filming is scheduled between August and December of this year. The film’s crew has chosen to set up cameras in the United Kingdom and on Moroccan territory, a country already renowned for hosting sets of international horror productions such as "The Hills Have Eyes," "Exorcist: The Beginning," and "Revenge."

This new chapter marks the grand reunion of the original duo. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will once again don the costumes of explorers Rick and Evelyn O’Connell, a first since the second film released in 2001. The handling of Evelyn’s character has sparked fan anticipation, with actress Maria Bello having portrayed her in the third installment "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor."
The plot, conceived by screenwriter David Coggeshall, remains strictly confidential for now. Direction has been entrusted to the duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. This pair has built a solid reputation in genre cinema by co-directing several horror box-office successes, including "Wedding Nightmare" (Ready or Not), recent installments of "Scream" (V and VI), and the vampire film "Abigail."

This blockbuster reinforces the momentum of its two leads. Since winning the Best Actor Oscar for "The Whale," Brendan Fraser has been moving from one production to another ("Killers of the Flower Moon," "Brothers") and will soon portray Dwight D. Eisenhower. Meanwhile, Rachel Weisz, recently seen in the Marvel universe ("Black Widow") and the Prime Video series "Dead Ringers," has been starring in the Netflix series "Vladimir" since March.
