Matt Damon Debuts Dramatic New Look for Nolan’s ’Odyssey’ Film

Matt Damon, American actor, screenwriter, documentary filmmaker, film producer and editor, has changed a lot after his trip to Morocco where he had participated in part of the filming of the film, The Odyssey, by British director Christopher Nolan. He was very unrecognizable upon his arrival at Trapani airport (Italy).
Long gray beard, mustache. Matt Damon appeared transformed upon his arrival at Trapani airport where the filming crew of the film, The Odyssey, was waiting for him, including his co-stars Ulysses, Tom Holland, Ryan Hurst and director Christopher Nolan and his fans. He wore a pair of sunglasses and a black baseball cap. The 54-year-old American actor had a relaxed silhouette: he wore a navy blue t-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers. His arrival in Italy will mark the beginning of part of the filming of the film.
The Odyssey is an adaptation of the epic poem written by the Greek poet Homer in the 8th century BC. British director Christopher Nolan has called on several actors such as Matt Damon, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Samantha Morton, Will Yun Lee and Mia Goth, to play various roles.
The main filming of The Odyssey began last month in the United Kingdom, Morocco and Sicily, as well as in Greece. In early March, the filming crews took up residence in Aït Benhaddou, Morocco, where films like Gladiator II and Game Of Thrones were shot. The budget allocated to the film’s production would be $250 million, The InSneider reported in late December. It would be the "most expensive film" of Christopher Nolan’s career, 54, and the first epic action film shot with the new IMAX technology.
Produced by Universal Pictures, The Odyssey will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026.
