Morocco Withdraws from Arab Basketball Cup Due to COVID-19 Outbreak in Team

The Moroccan basketball team will not be present at the Arab Nations Cup. Several cases of Covid-19 contamination have been recorded within the Atlas Lions.
In a statement, The Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation (FRMBB) announced the non-participation of the national basketball team in the Arab Nations Cup scheduled in the United Arab Emirates from February 8 to 16, 2022.
A withdrawal that is inevitable because 7 members of the Moroccan delegation tested positive for Covid-19, 4 are considered contact cases and 8 are negative. Yet for this edition, the Atlas Lions who have never lifted the cup thought they could do it.
In 24 editions, they have finished second twice in 2005 and 2017 and third three times (2000, 2009, 2010).
