Morocco’s En-Nesyri Tests Positive for COVID-19 Ahead of AFCON

Youssef En-Nesyri has tested positive for Covid-19. The Moroccan striker of FC Seville is expected in the national team on January 3 to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Absent since the first day of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers due to an injury, Youssef En-Nesyri should join the Atlas Lions next Monday to participate in his third Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Cameroon between January 9 and February 6, 2022, after those of 2017 in Gabon and 2019 in Egypt. The FC Seville striker has scored 3 goals in previous AFCONs, one in 2017 against Togo and two in 2019 against Côte d’Ivoire and Benin.
The Atlas Lions have been in camp since Monday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora (Salé). They undergo a Covid-19 test upon arrival, in accordance with the current health protocol, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) said on Tuesday. The players had two training sessions on Tuesday and will be subjected to the same pace on Wednesday, the Federation specifies on its website.
