Morocco’s Star Striker En-Nesyri Suffers Injury Setback, Doubtful for Africa Cup of Nations

Injured on September 25 during the match that pitted his club against Espanyol, Youssef En-Nesyri suffered a relapse of the muscle tear he was suffering from and will have to stay off the pitch longer than expected. The announcement was made by the Andalusian club, thus reducing Morocco’s hopes of counting on the player for the 2022 CAN.
A big blow for Vahid Halilhodzic and the Moroccan national football team. The star striker of Sevilla FC has suffered a relapse of his left hamstring injury, according to Radio Marca Sevilla. The physical difficulties encountered at the start of the season had prevented En-Nesyri from attending the last gathering of the Atlas Lions, much to the displeasure of the national coach, who had demanded that the Moroccan medical staff be allowed to examine the player’s injury.
With this relapse, Youssef is already ruled out for the next two national team matches but especially for the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled in Cameroon. "This one, which will take place from January 9 to February 6, 2022, will be without Youssef En-Nesyri who will still be in convalescence. The player underwent additional treatment after suffering a relapse, a fibrillar rupture of the left hamstring, which occurred at the end of September. The player, who will rest next week, will take the opportunity to spend a few days in Morocco," Sevilla FC announced in a statement.
