Morocco’s En-Nesyri Sidelined for World Cup Qualifier with Thigh Injury

Youssef En-Nesyri did not ultimately travel to Morocco for the match against Guinea Bissau scheduled for this Wednesday. Injured in the thigh during the match against Espanyol, the Moroccan striker of FC Seville could return to the field within four weeks.
After undergoing several medical tests, Youssef En-Nesyri was forced to rest. The player is suffering from a tear in the hamstring fibers and could only recover in about four weeks, according to the doctors’ estimates. Lopetegui informed the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) of En-Nesyri’s situation, who was supposed to respond, like his compatriots Bono and Munir, to the call-up of the Moroccan team to take part in the three World Cup qualifying matches for Qatar 2022.

The Spanish club wanted the injured player not to travel to Morocco, despite the insistence of the national coach, Vahid Halilhodzic. Youssef En-Nesyri ultimately remained in Seville to follow the physiotherapy treatment of the club, in constant contact with the doctors of the Moroccan national team who play their first match against Guinea Bissau this Wednesday.
The absence of En-Nesyri was noticed in the matches against Wolfsburg in the Champions League and against Granada in La Liga, where FC Seville could not score any goals and recorded their first defeat of the season.
