Morocco Unveils Major Highway Expansion Plans, Including Nador Port Connection

Connect the new port of Nador West Med and build the continental highway in order to alleviate the foreseeable congestion of the Rabat-Casablanca corridor. This summarizes the two major projects planned by the National Motorway Company of Morocco (ADM) in its new national expansion program.

ADM will continue to work towards the preservation of the national motorway heritage, in particular by continuing the maintenance and repair work on the 1,800 km, as well as the tripling and construction of interchanges, said Anouar Benazzouz, CEO of ADM, in an interview published in the company’s 2020 annual report.

The company will approach the coming years with "confidence and perseverance", despite the difficult context of the health crisis, added Benazzouz, who stressed the continuation of the company’s digitization process. "We have a level of technology integration in our know-how and processes that no development would be conceivable without it," he said. ADM will also be very active on other projects planned in its agenda, such as "supporting young startups, investing more with our renowned partners in the fields of R&D and innovation", etc.

"Like all the components of our country, ADM has shown great resilience in the face of the repercussions of the Covid-19 crisis. A crisis experienced as an examination of the solidity of its fundamentals and its capacity for innovation in order to maintain a quality public service during this period," Benazzouz stressed, also stating that the company has managed to preserve thousands of jobs and achieve "tangible and significant" results in 2020, both in terms of construction and in its mission of service to the user.

For the manager, "the largest and most complex construction sites ever carried out under traffic by ADM" have emerged during this period. "We have carried out major projects such as the tripling of the Casablanca-Berrechid highway and the tripling of the Casablanca bypass highway," he said, also pleased that the digitization of payment methods has become a reality at ADM.
