Morocco Expands Busy 60km Casablanca-Berrechid Highway to Ease Traffic

Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM) has announced the start of expansion works to 2×3 lanes of the last two sections of the Casablanca-Berrechid motorway, and the Casablanca bypass motorway.
These works concern a length of 60 km from the Mohammedia bifurcation to the Berrechid motorway interchange, passing through the Lissasfa bifurcation, some of the most heavily trafficked motorway sections in the Kingdom, ADM said in a press release.
Given the complexity of the works under traffic, the company explained that it has defined a phasing that will limit traffic disruption as much as possible. The first phase saw the completion of preparatory works, including increasing the capacity of the Tit Mellil, Bouskoura, Berrechid and Mohammed V Airport toll plazas and widening the motorway by 3 km on either side of these four plazas.
This stage required a budget of 400 million dirhams fully financed by ADM’s own funds. The second phase, started at the end of 2019, concerns the widening to 2×3 lanes of the high-traffic motorway sections serving vital infrastructure and requiring the maintenance of 2X2 traffic.
For lot 2, it is the company Bioui Travaux that will be in charge of carrying out the works on this section, for an amount reaching 400 MDH excluding tax and an execution period of 36 months.
As for lot 3, it has been awarded to the Groupe Mojazine company for an amount of 517 MDH excluding tax and an execution period of 45 months. Note that the supervision of these two complex construction sites has been entrusted to ADM’s technical expertise subsidiary, ADM Projet.
