This Israeli company equips defense giants and also has clients in Morocco

Morocco appears on a map published in an official presentation by RP Optical Lab, filed on May 27, 2026, with the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. Entitled “countries with RP clients,” the map places the Kingdom among around twenty markets served by the company.

The United States, Canada, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, India, Japan and several European countries also appear on this list. However, the presentation does not specify since when RP Optical has operated in Morocco, nor whether its client is a government agency, a local company or another military equipment manufacturer.

Caution therefore remains necessary. RP Optical works for the defense and homeland security sectors, but also provides solutions intended for the medical and commercial markets. Morocco’s presence on this map does not make it possible to assert that the Royal Armed Forces are direct clients.

The Israeli company develops infrared lenses, thermal cameras, imaging components and systems combining several sensors. These technologies can be integrated into ground, aerial or naval surveillance devices.

The presentation also lists several major international groups among its reference clients: Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries, Rafael, MBDA, Leonardo DRS, L3Harris, Teledyne FLIR and Controp.

A still substantial order backlog

Nearly three months after this initial revelation, RP Optical published new financial results. As of August 20, 2026, the group still had a global order backlog of approximately 145 million dollars, according to its half-year report. No breakdown by country is provided, and Morocco is not mentioned in this update.

This appearance comes amid the strengthening of military cooperation between Morocco and Israel. In recent years, Rabat has procured drones, air defense systems, rocket launchers and various electronic equipment from Israeli manufacturers.

Several suppliers are also seeking to move from simple sales to local production or integration. Moroccan officers were notably trained by BlueBird Aero Systems as part of the project to manufacture military drones in Morocco. Elbit Systems, for its part, secured a contract for turrets intended for Moroccan armored vehicles.
