Morocco remains an important destination for French tourists, but the beginning of summer 2026 marks a clear slowdown. In package holidays, which combine flights and accommodation, the kingdom maintains fourth place in the ranking, while recording a 68% decline.

This decline does not mean Morocco is leaving the preferred destinations of French travelers. Rather, it reflects a rebalancing of the market after a particularly strong 2025 for the Maghreb and southern Europe.

According to the latest barometer from tour operator BDV, Crete remains at the top of package holidays, ahead of the Dominican Republic and the Canary Islands. Morocco arrives just behind, ahead of Guadeloupe, which is progressing strongly on packaged offers.

The underlying trend is clear: French people are looking again towards distant destinations. The Dominican Republic is surging in holidays, while tours to the United States, China, Laos or Nepal are benefiting from a catch-up effect.

Long-haul is regaining momentum

This recovery in long-haul travel is weighing on some closer destinations, including Morocco. After several months of hesitation linked to geopolitical tensions and prices, some French travelers seem to be rediscovering a taste for major trips.

Morocco remains better positioned than other destinations that are also declining in summer choices. The Canary Islands, despite being on the podium, are also experiencing a sharp decline after a dynamic spring.
