Morocco Emerges as Top Destination for Russian Tourists, Sees 500% Surge in Bookings

Morocco sees the number of Russian tourists multiplied by five for the summer of 2025, placing it at the top of increasingly popular destinations for these travelers.
With 0.5% of all Russian tourist bookings abroad, Morocco tops the ranking of increasingly popular destinations for these travelers, according to analyses by the travel planning service OneTwoTrip. This unprecedented rise in Russian tourism comes at a time when Morocco is experiencing exceptional growth in the total number of visitors. During the first four months of 2025, the kingdom welcomed 5.7 million tourists, an increase of 23% compared to the same period in 2024.
This feat is explained by the reception of an additional million tourists in just four months. "An additional million visitors in what is usually a quieter start to the year is a strong signal for the rest of 2025," said Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor. She attributed these results to the tourism roadmap launched by the government.
With a threefold increase, representing 0.7% of bookings, Abkhazia rises to second place in the ranking of increasingly popular destinations for Russian tourists. Spain (9.1% of bookings), Hungary (2.3%), and Kazakhstan (2.2%) all saw their numbers double.
Russian interest in travel to Egypt and South Africa has also greatly increased for the upcoming summer season, recording increases of 75% and 57% respectively.
