Marrakech, Agadir, Fès... Morocco rolls out its strategy to attract French tourists
Morocco intends to attract more and more French tourists. It has set a target figure: 10 million French travelers per year by 2030.
Morocco plans to welcome more than 3.5 million French tourists by the end of 2025, compared to 2.4 million in 2024. A figure it hopes will grow steadily to reach 10 million French travelers per year by 2030, the year the kingdom will host the football World Cup along with Spain and Portugal. To achieve this, an ambitious roadmap has been developed to multiply stays and vacations, particularly in flagship cities like Agadir and Marrakech.
"French visitors occupy a strategic place in our Vision 2030 plan; they represent both a loyal and demanding clientele, which is driving the upgrading of our infrastructure," explains Adel El Fakir, Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), quoted by Le Figaro. With a diversified range of stays, strengthened direct flights and a hotel industry in full transformation, Morocco has become the preferred destination for the French for holidays and travel.
This appeal is also explained by historical and cultural ties.
