Morocco Snow Alert: Up to 35 cm Expected in the Atlas
The National Meteorological Directorate has issued an orange alert bulletin forecasting heavy snowfall from Tuesday in several provinces of the Kingdom. The Atlas peaks will be particularly affected by this phenomenon, which will persist until Thursday.
From Tuesday to Thursday, significant snowfall will affect mountain areas located above 1800 meters in altitude. According to the DGM, the provinces of Taroudant, Al Haouz, Azilal and Ouarzazate could record between 25 and 35 cm of snow. A total of 15 to 25 cm is also expected in Midelt, Beni Mellal, Ifrane, Khénifra, Chichaoua and Tinghir.

For Monday 2 March, weather forecasts are predicting cold conditions across the Atlas, the Rif, the Southeast and the High Plateaus, with minimum temperatures ranging from -6°C to 2°C in the mountain ranges. Fairly strong wind gusts are expected in the Tangier region, the Souss and the northern provinces of the South, accompanied by low morning clouds over the Atlantic plains.

Meanwhile, locally stormy showers with a risk of hail will affect the Rif, the Saiss, the Atlas, as well as the northern and central plains. A few snowflakes will appear in the High Atlas from Monday. At sea, conditions will range from slight to moderate in the Mediterranean, the Strait and along the Atlantic coast.
