Weather in Morocco: Orange alert from the DGM, rain, snow and winds until Monday
The Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) issued a Saturday orange alert bulletin forecasting unfavorable weather conditions across the entire Moroccan territory until Monday.
The alert concerns heavy rainfall, significant snowfall and sustained wind gusts.
According to the DGM, the northern provinces, particularly Tanger-Asilah, Tétouan and Larache, will be the most exposed. Rainfall accumulations between 50 and 80 mm are expected between Sunday 03:00 and Monday 15:00. The bulletin also highlights a risk of hail in these areas.
In the central regions, such as Azilal and Béni Mellal, precipitation began this Saturday with forecasts ranging between 30 and 40 mm. Other provinces, including Settat and Khouribga, should record between 20 and 30 mm of rain.
In the mountain ranges, snow is expected from 1,200 meters altitude:
• Expected heights: Between 20 and 50 cm in the provinces of Al Haouz, Ifrane, Midelt and Azilal.
• Temperatures: The mercury should drop to reach values between -8 °C and -3 °C in the mountainous areas and the Southeast between Saturday and Sunday.
