Weather Alert in Morocco: Torrential rains, snow and strong winds starting this Monday

The General Directorate of Meteorology announces a significant deterioration of atmospheric conditions over the Kingdom. From Monday to Tuesday, heavy rains, snow and powerful gusts of wind will affect several provinces in the north and east.

The north of the country is at the forefront of this disturbance. The weather agency has placed an orange alert zone covering the Strait of Gibraltar and the western Rif, including Tangier, Tetouan and Chefchaouen. These localities should record precipitation accumulations ranging between 40 and 90 millimeters until Tuesday morning, with showers that could be accompanied by hail in some areas.

The rainy episode also extends, with a more moderate intensity, towards the interior and the Saïss. Rainfall amounts between 30 and 40 millimeters are expected throughout Monday on an axis connecting Kenitra to Fez, also affecting the reliefs of Al Hoceima and the plains of Meknes.

This Monday, strong winds will persist on the Mediterranean facade and the high plateaus of the east, potentially complicating travel.

Finally, snowfall on the reliefs. Peaks exceeding 1,800 meters in altitude, particularly in the provinces of Boulemane, Taza and Sefrou, should be covered with a white blanket of 10 to 20 centimeters, with falling temperatures.
