The weather is deteriorating in Morocco: snow, rain and freezing temperatures
Heavy snowfall, heavy rains and an intense cold wave are expected in several provinces of the Kingdom from Sunday to Tuesday, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology, which has just issued an alert bulletin at the vigilance level.
Significant snowfall is expected from an altitude of 1,300 meters, with depths reaching 90 cm in the provinces of Al Haouz, Azilal and Ouarzazate. Depths between 30 and 50 cm are also expected in regions such as Ifrane, Midelt or Khénifra, while other provinces will see snow from 1,200 meters. This snowfall, which begins on Sunday around midday, is expected to continue until Tuesday morning according to the official forecasts.
In addition, heavy rains and thunderstorms will affect the north of the country, particularly in the provinces of Tétouan, Al Hoceima and Nador, between Sunday and Monday. These bad weather conditions will be accompanied by a severe cold wave with temperatures dropping to -09°C in areas such as Tinghir, Midelt and Ifrane.
The situation will be exacerbated by powerful gusts of wind between 75 and 90 km/h, sweeping the southern and eastern provinces such as Tata, Tarfaya and Figuig. These strong winds will persist until Monday evening, affecting different geographical areas in succession according to the alert bulletin.
