Weather alert in Morocco: Up to -9°C and 20 cm of snow expected
The weather is deteriorating again in Morocco, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM), which forecasts snowfall, cold weather and heavy rains from Tuesday to Thursday in several provinces of the Kingdom.
Snowfall ranging from 10 to 20 centimeters will affect the provinces of Ifrane, Khénifra, Midelt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Guercif and Taza until Wednesday at dawn. During the same period, the provinces of Azilal, Béni Mellal and Tinghir will record snowfall between 5 and 10 centimeters. This phenomenon will be accompanied by intense cold with minimum temperatures ranging between -09 and -04 °C in the provinces of Tinghir, Al Haouz, Midelt, Boulemane, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Azilal, Béni Mellal and Ifrane.
The alert bulletin also specifies that temperatures between -03 and 00 °C are expected in the provinces of Figuig, Khénifra, Chichaoua, Sefrou, Taza and Guercif. In addition to the cold and snow, heavy rains reaching 40 to 50 mm are expected from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning in the provinces of Larache, Al Hoceima, Tétouan, Mdiq-Fnideq, Chefchaouen, Fahs-Anjra, Tanger-Assilah, Ouezzane and Taounate.
These rainfalls will then extend, from Wednesday evening until the end of the day on Thursday, to the provinces of Sefrou, Ifrane, Taza, Azilal, Béni Mellal, Khénifra and Midelt. The General Directorate of Meteorology calls for vigilance in all the areas affected by these climatic disturbances that will mark the middle of the week.
