The national coach, Walid Regragui, has called on coach Abdellah Bouhazama to strengthen the technical staff of the Moroccan national team after the setback at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

Changes in the technical staff of the Moroccan national football team. Walid Regragui would have recruited Abdellah Bouhazama to replace Gharib Amzine. Rachid Benmahmoud, Regragui’s assistant, was kept in his position.

Abdellah Bouhazama is a Moroccan coach who has proven himself in France, where he has coached the lower categories of clubs like Tours and Saint-Étienne, and has emerged as a coach and technical director of the Angers club. In Morocco, Bouhazama had coordinated the technical supervision of young talents at the National Academy of the Béni Mellal region. The coach will now put this rich experience at the service of the Moroccan national team.

Walid Regragui had announced reforms at the level of the players and the technical staff after the early elimination of the Atlas Lions in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire. "It is important, in the face of negative results, to review our mistakes to improve the level of the Moroccan national team in the near future," he had said.

The Moroccan team will face Angola in a friendly match on Friday, March 22 at the Grand Stade d’Agadir, before crossing swords with Mauritania on Tuesday, March 26 on the same pitch. Important matches for the Atlas Lions who must secure their ticket for the 2026 World Cup and prepare seriously for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled in Morocco.
