Moroccan national team: major changes expected

The coach of the Moroccan national team, Walid Regragui, should bring significant changes to the Atlas Lions. According to some indiscretions, players who participated in the last Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire will not be called up for the next friendly matches scheduled this month.

Walid Regragui had announced reforms at the level of the technical staff and players, after the setback at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire where Morocco was eliminated in the round of 16 against South Africa (2-0). In this context, the Moroccan coach plans not to call up certain players who participated in this continental competition for the next gathering of the Atlas Lions.

According to Foot Mercato, Selim Amallah, whose performances were not appreciated by Moroccan supporters, would not be part of the team. Similarly, Sofiane Boufal, injured, should not be called up for this gathering.

On the other hand, new talents are expected. This is the case of Brahim Diaz who, according to the latest information, should officially join the Moroccan team in the coming days. The Moroccan technician would also plan to call up Eliesse Ben Seghir, playing at AS Monaco, to strengthen the Moroccan team’s defense. The name of Neil El Aynaoui, the midfielder of RC Lens, is also circulating.

Morocco faces Angola and Mauritania in friendly matches on March 22 and 26 at the Grand Stade d’Agadir. Walid Regragui should publish the list of players called up for these two matches in the coming days.
