Hakim Ziyech Returns from Injury, Sparks Galatasaray Win Amid Morocco Call-up Speculation

Recovered from an ankle injury sustained during the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN Côte d’Ivoire 2023), Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech contributed to Galatasaray’s resounding victory over Rizespor (6-2) in a Turkish league match. Will he be called up for the Atlas Lions’ friendly matches against Angola and Mauritania?
Absent from the pitch since his ankle injury sustained during the last CAN, Hakim Ziyech made his return last Friday. Fielded for the match against Rizespor won by Galatasaray (6-2), he played for 15 minutes. He was involved in one of the six goals of his club’s victory. Will the Moroccan international be called up by Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan national team, for the upcoming Atlas Lions friendly matches?
The Moroccan team will play against Angola on Friday, March 22, before facing Mauritania on Tuesday, March 26 at the Grand Stade d’Agadir during the international break. For now, the list of players has not yet been revealed. The Moroccan coach is expected to bet on new talents. He would like to call up the attacking midfielder Eliesse Ben Seghir, who plays for AS Monaco, to strengthen the Moroccan team’s defense, Neil El Aynaoui, the midfielder from RC Lens, or Alaa Bellaarouch, the goalkeeper from Strasbourg, who is shining in Ligue 1.
