Morocco’s Hotel Industry Seeks Government Subsidies in Tourism Upgrade Plan

Following the census launched by the government in the hotel industry, as part of the emergency plan, 495 hotels and tourist establishments have filed requests to benefit from subsidies.
This subsidy aims to improve the quality of the offer and the quality of services in hotel establishments, indicates the Ministry of Tourism, which has recorded a total of 495 requests for support covering all regions and all categories of Tourist Accommodation Establishments (EHT) from 5 stars to classified gîte.
"In accordance with the deadlines set, the submissions to benefit from the state’s support as part of the emergency plan for the upgrading of EHTs were closed on April 15," the ministry said, recalling that the overall amount planned for this plan is 2 billion DH, of which 1 billion is reserved for the upgrading of EHTs.
And to specify that "the requests are currently being examined by the local Technical Committee, composed of the tourism delegation, the professional association and the technical expert. Eligible EHTs will be ranked according to the score assigned to them after the evaluation, which will combine several criteria."
As for the regions, the strongest demands have been in line with the weight of the destinations, the same source points out, specifying that the most popular with tourists and having the highest concentrations of EHTs have been at the forefront of the requests (Marrakech, Agadir, Casablanca, Tangier, etc.)
