Morocco Unveils $100 Million Hotel Renovation Program to Boost Tourism

Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor announced the granting of subsidies to the hotel sector in the coming days. In total, 781 applications have been filed with the structures in charge of the program.
Speaking in parliament on "the measures taken in favor of the tourism sector", the minister indicated that the process launched as part of the state’s support for the hotel sector is continuing.
In April, 495 files had been registered with the Moroccan Tourist Engineering Company (SMIT). This month, the number of applications has increased to 781, she stressed, specifying that the envelope allocated for this hotel accommodation renovation program amounts to 1 MMDH.
The purpose of this subsidy is to improve the quality of the offer and the quality of services in hotel establishments in all regions and concerns all categories of Tourist Accommodation Establishments (EHT) from 5 stars to classified gîtes. Eligible EHTs will be classified according to the score awarded to them after the evaluation, which will combine several criteria.
