Morocco’s Tourism Rebounds: Revenue Soars 80% as Post-Pandemic Recovery Takes Hold

Hit hard by the health crisis related to Covid-19, Moroccan tourism is gradually regaining its cruising speed. This is evidenced by the performance recorded in recent months.
Speaking to the House of Representatives, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, communicated the official statistics on tourism activity. It appears that tourism revenues have increased by 80% compared to last year, reaching 9.7 billion dirhams at the end of March. This confirms the recovery of Moroccan tourism.
According to the minister, this performance is explained by the measures taken in favor of the sector, in particular the launch of an emergency plan of 2 billion dirhams, the payment of the lump-sum allowance of 2,000 DH for all employees in the sector, tourist carriers and classified restaurants, and the postponement of the repayment of bank loan maturities for tourism companies. Morocco is thus regaining positive prospects for the coming months.
