Morocco’s Historic World Cup Run Earns Praise from Football Legend Klinsmann
The flood of congratulatory messages continues, following the historic journey of the Lions of the Atlas at the 2022 World Cup. After heads of state, celebrities from the world, it is the German football legend, Jurgen Klinsmann, who has been lavish in his praise of the Moroccan players.
Morocco finishes 4th in the competition. Walid Regragui’s men, greatly diminished due to injuries, failed to reach the podium. The Lions of the Atlas lost to Croatia (2-1) in the third-place match, played on Saturday. Nevertheless, the congratulations are pouring in from all sides.
In a statement to the press, Jurgenn Klinsmann, former German international and coach, now with FIFA, said all the good he thinks of Morocco’s journey in this edition of the tournament. The former German striker even predicted a better performance in the next editions.
"Give the Moroccans a few days of rest and they will realize that they have ’conquered’ the world and shown that a Maghreb team can go far. It’s their first time in the semi-finals, and it certainly won’t be the last," he said.
