Morocco’s World Cup Hero Regragui Sets Sights on Africa Cup of Nations Success

After the historic and exceptional feats at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Walid Regragui, the coach of the Atlas Lions, takes stock and also lifts the veil on the next objectives he sets for himself.
Walid Regragui looks back on the journey of his protégés at the 2022 World Cup. In his first media appearance on the Arryiadia channel, he stated that Morocco owes its historic run in Qatar, notably to the behind-the-scenes, the team spirit and the presence of the players’ parents.
Revealing the objectives of the Moroccan national team for the next competitions, especially the next Africa Cup of Nations, he assured that the Atlas Lions must maintain the same level or even progress towards the best. "We want to maintain the same level and progress towards the best. That’s why this winning mindset must be maintained, we must first remain among the top four teams on the continent."
But in case of unsatisfactory results, the former coach of Wydad Athletic Club will leave the Atlas Lions ship. "At my level, I want to reach at least the semi-finals of the next AFCON, if I don’t, then I’ll leave and the new coach of the team will have to continue in the same state of mind, that is to say, aim for the semi-finals or the finals, that’s how Morocco will progress," he warned.
