Morocco’s High-Speed Rail Expansion: Marrakech-Agadir Line Inches Forward

The project of a TGV line between Marrakech-Agadir is progressing slowly, after the speech of King Mohammed VI, delivered on November 6 last. This is at least what a technical sheet from the National Railway Office (ONCF) indicates.
The preliminary studies for the launch of the railway line project to Agadir are almost complete, says Médias24 who consulted this ONCF technical sheet.
Similarly, the Office already has a large part of the land base. It has managed to obtain a peri-urban land, with the status of collective land, covering an area of 20 hectares, reserved for the construction of the future railway station of the city of Agadir. This land was declared of public utility on 01/02/2017, after publication in the Official Gazette no. 5440. Following the expropriation decree, published in the Official Gazette no. 6861 on March 2, 2020, the domain has been secured.
At this stage of the project, no date has been communicated on the actual start of the construction work of the railway line between the two cities, as well as that of the construction of the Agadir station. However, a reliable source announces the realization of the project "by 2025 at the latest, once the financing is secured".
