Morocco Launches Study for New High-Speed Rail Line from Kénitra to Marrakech

The National Railway Office (ONCF) has recently launched a study on the traffic and profitability of the Kénitra-Marrakech high-speed line.
Once the study on the traffic and profitability of the Kénitra-Marrakech high-speed line is completed, the construction work will be launched, reports Maghreb intelligence. The ONCF intends to inject nearly one million dirhams into the realization of this study.
A source close to the file estimates that, "logically, common sense would dictate that we connect Kénitra and Marrakech via Casablanca" since the only high-speed line in the Kingdom connects Casablanca and Tangier via Rabat and Kénitra.
The city of Agadir, for its part, will be connected to the national railway network via the Marrakech-Agadir high-speed line section. This project is in line with Morocco’s "2040 Railway Program".
