Morocco Coach Walid Regragui Eyes European and Gulf Opportunities

Currently on a tour in the Gulf to meet Moroccan players who could be on the list of the Atlas Lions for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifications, Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan national team, reveals his future ambitions.
Walid Regragui dreams of holding the position of coach in Europe and in the Gulf. In a statement to the Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiya, he supported the idea that Arab coaches deserve to coach in Europe. This is actually what he aspires to. If he fails to achieve this goal, an offer in Saudi Arabia could interest him.
The coach of the Moroccan national team was in the Gulf this week. He is looking for Moroccan players he could call up for the matches against Zambia and Congo scheduled in June as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifications, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada. Accompanied by his assistant Rachid Benmahmoud, he followed this week the match between Al-Wahda and Al-Hazm, from the stands to evaluate the performance of Munir El Kajoui and Faycal Fajr. He was also present during the return leg of the Asian Champions League semi-final, to evaluate the performances of Yassine Bounou and Sofiane Rahimi.
Regragui is expected to travel to Qatar in the coming days to follow Sofiane Boufal, who is back from the injury he suffered during the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN Ivory Coast 2023).
