Moroccan Coach Regragui Scouts Gulf Talent for World Cup Qualifiers

Walid Regragui, the coach of the Moroccan national team, continues his journey in the Gulf in search of Moroccan players who could feature on the Atlas Lions’ list for the upcoming World Cup qualifications.
Accompanied by his assistant Rachid Benmahmoud, he attended the match between Al Wahda and Al Hazm on Thursday. The objective: to evaluate the form of Munir El Kajoui and Fayçal Fajr, two players playing in the Emirati championship.
A few days earlier, Regragui had already taken a seat in the stands of the King Fahd stadium to observe the return leg of the semi-final of the Asian Champions League between Al Hilal and Al Ain. This was an opportunity for him to assess the state of preparation of Yassine Bounou and Sofiane Rahimi, two pillars of the Moroccan national team.
The Moroccan coach’s next stop: Qatar. He will travel there in the coming days to closely follow the progress of Sofiane Boufal, back from injury since the Africa Cup of Nations.
Regragui’s objective is clear: to call up the players in the best form for the crucial confrontations against Zambia and Congo, during the third and fourth rounds of the qualifications for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
