Morocco Coach Halilhodzic Sets Sights on 2022 AFCON Title and World Cup Qualification

Morocco’s coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, aims to win the 2022 CAN and to lead the Atlas Lions to the next World Cup, scheduled in Qatar, to end his career in the most beautiful way.
Contacted to comment on his ambitions for the 2022 CAN and especially to take stock of his career, the Franco-Bosnian technician gave details on the personal challenges he has set himself before retiring.
In an interview with the Serbian daily sportklub, Halilhodzic said that Morocco retains all the chances of winning the next African Cup of Nations and he will succeed in doing so, to mark his career, after the title won with Raja in 1997.
The coach also announced that he intends to lead the Atlas Lions to Qatar in June, in order to become the only coach to have qualified four different teams for the World Cup. "I am about to achieve a goal that no one has been able to reach. If we manage to qualify for the World Cup with Morocco, I will become the only coach who has been able to do it with four different selections," he said.
And to add: "If I manage to accomplish this with the Moroccan national team, I will therefore end my coaching career in style".
It should be remembered that Vahid Halilhodzic has already led three countries to the World Cup. These are Japan, Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire.
