Morocco: Changes to the driver’s license

The National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) is expanding the use of advanced technologies to reform the process of obtaining a driver’s license. Cameras and artificial intelligence systems are now installed in exam centers. The objective is to monitor the progress of theoretical and practical tests in real-time while limiting human intervention in the evaluation of results.

A major step has been taken with the creation of a "smart car" in collaboration with the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). This vehicle, equipped with sensors and an advanced computer system, allows for an objective assessment of candidates. At the same time, 15 new mobile radars have been deployed to strengthen speed monitoring on various road networks.

Administrative simplification is also progressing, with the processing of 49 specific procedures. 47 of them are already published on the "Idarati" portal. Partnerships with Barid Bank and Barid Cash now allow users to submit their license renewal applications at local agencies, avoiding unnecessary travel.

The ministry has also set up a General Inspectorate to audit contract management and service transparency. This body produces rigorous reports to fight corruption and ensure compliance with governance rules. This system is accompanied by strengthened security of official documents, such as ship ownership titles.

The results of this modernization are concrete: the digitization rate of services reaches 85% and the internal management rate reaches 99%. This digital transformation aims to restore the trust of citizens by reducing the risks of forgery and accelerating the processing of requests for official documents for new vehicles.
