Morocco Driving Licence Reform: Pass the Theory Test Before Driving Lessons

The process for obtaining a driving licence in Morocco is about to change. The National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) has developed a new legal framework aimed at separating the theory test from the practical exam.

Under the procedures currently under discussion, candidates will be required to pass the driving theory test before they can begin their driving lessons. Once the practical training has been completed, a new appointment will be required for the final exam.

This project will be presented next Wednesday to industry professionals during a meeting between Benacer Boulaajoul, director of NARSA, and the Moroccan Federation of Instructors. Discussions will also focus on launching a new platform. This digital portal will allow driving schools to manage appointments and authorisation requests remotely, eliminating the need to travel physically to registration centres.

Several technical points remain to be settled during these consultations, including the validity period of a successful theory test and the number of attempts allowed for the practical exam.
