Morocco: changes for the driver’s license

New reforms regarding the Moroccan driver’s license. The National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) has just announced the update of the examination system to incorporate the latest amendments to the Highway Code.
Starting March 18, 2024, a new bank of 1,000 questions will be made available online instead of the previous 600, in view of the recent changes made to the Highway Code. "These changes include the consideration of new traffic offenses that were not previously evaluated in the driving exams," explains the director of a driving school in Casablanca to the newspaper Le Matin. Also, the exam rooms will now be equipped with individual surveillance cameras to prevent cheating, and smart cars will be used for the practical tests. Drivers will also have access to a new learning platform called "PERMINOU-NARSA".
All these changes aim to improve the quality of training by emphasizing the new driving rules as well as the most common offenses in order to ensure better and more responsible driving on the kingdom’s roads, assures NARSA, which invites driving schools to manage the number of appointments to take the driver’s license exam during the transition phase between the old and the new system. For the theoretical exam, the Agency closed the booking of appointments on February 23 for the tests from March 7 to 15 to allow driving schools to manage these files. The system will be updated at the level of all NARSA regional directorates, from March 14 to 17, 2024.
The driving school director also raised the issue of internet connectivity that could arise and hinder the proper functioning of the system. "The appointment booking platform is under heavy pressure and requires a stable internet connection to work properly," he said.
